Pathways to Success

Job Program

KSA Youth Foundation is a community-based program offering job readiness, job training, and placement services to youth and young adults seeking employment.

Job Readiness Training.

Our staff provides youth and young adults with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to enter or re-enter the job market. Participants are assigned a Job coach, undergo skills assessments, taught job search, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. Our Job coaches work one-on-one with the youth and develop an individualized “roadmap” that leads to obtaining an appropriate job, online job application processes, job retention, and career advancement.

Job Training and Placement.

Community based on-the-job training and apprenticeship programs have been identified and relationship formulated to place residents in programs that upon completion will ensure their independence. Youth are employed in childcare, construction, government, hospitality, landscaping, maintenance, office, and skilled trades positions.

Dream Workshops

Special workshops on and off-site will explore a variety of self-empowerment topics to include homeownership and entrepreneurship. Additionally, residents will attend recreational and cultural activities designed to engage, stimulate, and expose them to vocational, artistic, and consciousness-raising pursuits. For example, field trips may include visits to local public libraries, art and history museums, theatres, colleges and universities, professional sports venues, and other cultural sites.

Youth Support Services

For one year after participants have successfully reintegrated into the community, the KSA Youth Foundation will provide a support system to increase their ability to complete an educational program or retain employment. A parent-child incentive program will be developed to offer child care services, food, clothing, and transportation vouchers to participants as motivation to attend the Aftercare and Support Services and Follow up component. The KSA Youth Foundation will also present a series of basic life-skills building sessions. At “Dressing for Success” workshops, participants will be coached on personal and professional self-presentation, focusing on etiquette, language skills, and appropriate attire for the workplace. Speech workshops will enable participants to practice a variety of forms of oral communication: reading a prepared text, conversation, group discussion, argumentation, and extemporaneous speaking; participants will be encouraged to share their own written work with their peers. Other topics to be explored include “Consumer Education and Instruction,” Family and Individual Budgeting and Banking,” “The Use of Credit,” “Housekeeping,” “Menu Planning and Food Preparation,” and “Parenting,” The “Dream Workshops” component will explore the following topics: “Money Management: Banking, Finance, and Credit Repair,” “Parenting Skills: How to Be a Parent,” “Entrepreneurship: How to Build a Business,” “ Home Ownership: Steps to Owning Your Own Home,” and “Self-Sufficiency: Who, What, Why, and How Can I Be Self-Sufficient.”
